Having been inundated with glowing reviews following their headline performance at last year’s festival, the team here at Farmer Phil’s Festival are delighted to announce the return of CLEARWATER CREEDENCE REVIVAL as headliners on Friday 11 August 2023.
Although some 54 years have passed since the legendary Woodstock Festival, which featured a slew of iconic or soon-to-be iconic artists. Alongside Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Joe Cocker, The Who, Janis Joplin and Ten Years After was Creedence Clearwater Revival (CRR), whose unique brand of roots, swamp, blues, southern and country rock has stood the test of time and remains a staple of classic rock radio airplay on both sides of the Atlantic.
The spirit, power and quality of famous tracks like ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Bad Moon Rising’, ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain’ and more have been powerfully reprised alongside material from CCR frontman John Fogerty by tribute act Clearwater Creedence Revival, a supergroup of road-hardened players who have collectively performed with Stax legend Steve Cropper, Big Country, Denny Laine (Wings, Moody Blues), Eric Haydock’s Hollies, Animals and Friends, Alan Silson (Smokie), Wayne Fontana’s Mindbenders and more.
Those in attendance for Clearwater Creedence Revival’s dazzling performance as they brought last year’s Farmer Phil’s Festival will attest to the quality of these guys, but don’t just take our words for it – here’s what ROCKTOPIA, Giants of Rock had to say about them:
“Clearwater Creedence Revival do themselves “Proud” (‘…Mary’). The vocalist is a big, bearded fella with a lovely, gravelly voice and he guides us through some classic Country stylings and soothes many a hungover head. ‘Bad Mood Rising’, ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain’ and ‘I Put A Spell On You’, amongst others, make not being able to get to the bar more bearable, and in a world seemingly overrun with Creedence bands, this lot can hold their heads high above the rest.”
