Phil and the team here in Ratlinghope are pleased to announce that GYPSY PISTOLEROS will be returning to Farmer Phil’s Festival in 2024!
Gypsy Pistoleros are “The World’s Greatest Flamenco Punk Glam Rock ‘N’ Roll band Ever!”, combining their truly unique mix of flamenco rumba with old-school punk and rock n’ roll riffs.
The band is something truly unique and interesting in today’s predictable musical landscape. A sound and style that mixes glam rock with flamenco influences and a shout-out to the Latin spirit. This mongrel offspring of fiery flamenco passion and gritty gutter glam was born roaming somewhere between Barcelona and Birmingham, brought into the world to a soundtrack of stack-heeled anthems from sleazy 1970s America. Standing alone in musical ancestry and sound, they are one of those rare acts that can honestly claim the tag ‘unique’.
Upon returning to music in 2020 after a ten-year break (Theatre, Drama degree, film career) a clean – and now three years sober – Gypsy Lee Pistolero went about reinventing the band by stealing all the best musicians in Worcester. The legend Dave Draper (The Wildhearts) plays all guitar on studio recordings, while the powerhouse rhythm section of Kerry White (Bass, from the Suzi Quatro School of Bass) and the hard-hitting whirlwind that is Craig Sharpe (Drums) complete the line-up.
The only rule, musically, was that there were no rules. Straight back into the limelight, the band signed a ‘Greatest Hits’ album deal release with Golden Robot Records, then released the Latin, mariachi flavoured ‘The Mescalito Vampires’ after moving to Off Yer Rocka Records.
Debuting at Lakefest 2021 Festival by headlining the BBC Introducing stage, they then went on to appear on the main stages at Hard Rock Hell Sleaze Fest and Hard Rock Hell. 2022 saw a full headlining UK Tour after a return to HRH Sleaze (Mike Monroe, Hardcore Superstar, Crazy Lixx) and in November a show-stealing Hard Rock Hell Fest return alongside The Darkness, Skid Row, Ugly Kid Joe and a fantastic reception at Planet rock Winter’s End!
The new album ‘Duende a Go Go Go’ has been recorded, mixed and produced by fast-rising legend Dave Draper (The Wildhearts, Nickelback, Kerbdog, Terrorvision, The Professionals) at The Old Cider Press Studios, Pershore. The next single ‘What’s it Like to be a Girl?’ is due for release in May with accompanying video and the full album Digital/CD & Vinyl will be out later in the year.
We are very excited to be bringing these rhumba reprobates back to Ratlinghope this summer – theirs is a set you won’t want to miss!
